Software
Most scanners will be compatible and able to read most software, but it is important to check and make sure that the programs that you want to run can be used with your scanner. The software that most companies provide with the scanners is a twain program which will interface with your computers current imaging program. The software is usually not professional grade or level so if you are interested in doing advanced work with your scanner you may need to purchase additional software.
Knowing your needs
When you go to purchase a scanner you will be astounded by the number of options, features, styles and types of scanners that are available. If you are not sure exactly what you need you may find yourself caught up in all the extra features that some offer and end up not getting what you really need or want.
