My Laptop Computer Security Story

Words of caution: don't get too comfortable.

So back in my freshman year of college I lived in the dorm. This particular dorm was known for being pretty relaxed and the people were all down to earth.

I routinely left my laptop in the dorm library while I ran to the bathroom and it was there when I came back. However, these trips gave me a false sense of security.

One night the pizza delivery guy called to tell me my food was there, so I went to meet him and pay. Then I took dinner upstairs and ate--all the while my computer sat in the library. Needless to say, when I came back it was gone.

It's nice to live in a safe space, but this is more proof that a notebook computer lock could have saved the day here. For not much more than the price of a few pizzas!
