My first build...

by Kaida
(Asheboro, NC)

Alright, when I met my husband I was a total computer invalid. I knew nothing about them, except that the internet was kind of cool. He introduced me to Everquest, which was a bad move on his part.

After a few months of sharing a wal mart computer I had bought a couple years before I met him, we started seriously fighting over the dang machine. It seemed that our marriage was in danger...stupid reason I know...so he told me we needed to get another computer. At the time, wal mart was all I knew of the issue and they were way out of the budget. He told me that I could build my own for only a few hundred dollars...

"You can do that?"

After two trips to the PC store (I fried the MOBO the first time I tried to install it) we finally painstakingly managed to put together the machine. I learned two things. 1 - its not hard to break computer components and 2 - I should have let him build it instead of me with him telling me how.

In the end, We got two computers and could both play the danged game. Since then I have moved on to learn lots and build four other rigs, my latest sporting twin (SLI) Gforce 8800's. Its really a machine that can make grown men cry.
