Gaming Computers and Why They're Cooler Than Desktop Computers

Gaming computers are named for their specific build for playing PC and online games. More often than not, the computers’ casing features awesome designs and/or is transparent.

The casing might be transparent with neon colored interior to show off the components that make the computer run. Gaming systems usually run on Macintosh OS X, Windows XP or Windows Vista (for newer or upgraded models) operating systems.

Although most computer games will run on a regular computer, many gamers prefer to have the gaming computer because they are specifically designed for playing games. They're built specifically to handle high speeds and stream large amounts of data.

Gaming computers are designed to handle the processing of commands essential for 3D graphics. Gaming systems are also designed with ready to use ports for accessories such as headphones, microphones and web cams. The computer may also have USB and firewire connection ports that are easily accessible.

Computers used for gaming are sometimes also called gaming rigs. You can go with a prebuilt system or one that's custom-built or you can build one yourself. It is often cheaper to build your own system than buying one prebuilt.

Having one custom built may cost you a pretty penny, but if you do not know how to do it yourself this may be your best option. A gaming computer is purposefully made to out-do the opponents computer (faster processor, better graphics) and therefore winning you the game.

A computer that does not have a keen graphics card or that has a video card incorporated on the motherboard can’t be seen as a gaming computer. A dedicated graphic card with its own power supply is the way to go. This is because of the additional load placed on the CPU and also because of the fact that modern games need accelerated graphics. Graphic cards come in many sizes from high megabytes to lower gigabytes. The highest GB graphic card on the market today is 1GB.

Display Options

It is still often debated whether the CRT or the LCD monitors are the best to use with any computer. However it is a fact that in order to play games on a computer you would probably want to have a monitor with speedy response time and a high refresh rate in order to have smooth motion displayed. Some gamers use more than one screen to get the effect they desire.

Sound

You'll want good sound cards for your system. Better yet, get surround sound speakers. It is known throughout the gaming world that in order to experience full quality sound when gaming, surround sound speakers are a must have. It is also a must to have a cards with accelerated technologies that add sound effects without placing too much of a load on the CPU.

Memory

In recent times it is not uncommon to find a computer for gaming with more than 1GB of RAM. Cheap computer memory is easier to find now. Memory gets cheaper all the time. The RAM will act as the cache for the non-graphical sources that games tend to use. Gaming systems commonly come equipped with higher end RAM sticks that you would find in a normal computer.

Game Pad

The game pad you choose can make or break your gaming experience. Don't buy the cheapest one you can find - this is not the place to save money. That being said, a new gamepad doesn't have to break the bank either.

Gaming computers are the best computers for those who game often. Some people also do other things on them because of their graphical abilities. You may find that you can do things like watch movies, and other things that are considered media because of their high-end graphics.
