Who Needs A Data Recovery Service?

It's past midnight. Do you know who your data recovery service is?

Let's say you've been working on a presentation for your boss all evening when down goes your computer. Crash city. Try as you might you cannot get it to come back up. Panic mode is setting in and you are trying to control the urge to find a hammer. Wait! Stop and consider something.

If you need to recover data from your computer and have no idea how to do this, you need to hire a data recovery service.

In the event of a computer crash or accidental deletion, your work can be found. Nothing is more frustrating than working on an project for hours and accidentally deleting it. Or the power goes off and you don't have backup, so everything is lost.

But know this: your information is almost never lost. You just have to know how to find it. (But kids - don't try this at home! Data recovery isn't a do-it-yourself job for most. Call a data recovery specialist unless you really know what you're doing!)

Everything you do on your computer is on the hard drive. If you have the know how, you can retrieve everything. It may be a project that you have been working on and need for an important client. It could be that term paper that you are going to get an F for if you don't get it turned in on time.

Now if you do not back up your information and the worst happens, don't give up yet. There are people who specialize in data recovery. They can either take the hard drive apart and see if they can replace parts to get it back up and running or they may have to switch parts around such as the platters or the motor. Many times this will help at least long enough for the information to be salvaged.

However this should always be done by a professional. They use clean rooms to open the hard drive and see what the problem is. If you try opening a hard drive, you could cause more damage and you may never see your data again.

One method is called disk imaging. This is the method that is used many times to take the readable parts from the hard drive. When this image is retrieved, the image is studied for damage and if possible the original information can be reconstructed.

If the method works, you are in the clear and no one will ever know how close you were to missing the meeting with the information that you needed to close the deal.

In the case of head crashes, you will definitely have to call in a data recovery specialist. When this happens, the damage must be repaired before anyone can take anything off the hard drive. CD-ROMS can be a taxing culprit when it comes to problems with your hard drive. They are easily scratched and if this happens, you will definitely need a data recovery expert. Again, this is not a do-it-yourself project!

Some reports of putting the hard drive in the freezer have been circulated. There are people who say this has worked for them. Unwinding it by spinning it on a hard surface is another trick that people say has allowed them to get a hard drive going long enough to recover data. This should not be attempted if the information you lost is terribly important. You could actually cause more damage to the hard drive than it had sustained originally.

The best way to avoid having to go through all this trouble and holding your breath to see if all the tricks used are going to work is always to back up the information on your computer. It might even be a good idea to keep another copy of your hard drive elsewhere (like a safety deposit box) for data too important to lose. It is definitely worth the time and effort it takes to copy and store your it!

Using back up for your computer information can save a lot of frayed nerves. It will also save you time and money. Getting a data recovery service to perform the what appears to be the impossible is not inexpensive. You'll want to know where to go before you need help.

This alone can save time and keep your business from having to be down too long. You cannot afford to be out of commission for even a day or two. And with a good data recovery service you might not have to.

This is how good data recovery service techs can be: police officers will do data recovery on perfectly good computers because they are looking for something that links their suspect with a crime. In this event there are specially trained computer forensic data recovery experts who do this to recover the evidence they need.

Most people think that once they delete something from their computer it is gone forever. However that is not the case. Either your information will be gone forever or the data recovery will be successful. So just in case, you should know who your data recovery service company is before you need them!
